“Going to the chapel and we’re gonnnnnna get maaaarried.”
Just over a month ago two of the founding member of the urban-evangie team got married!!! Those two people would be…me(Emily) and Jonathan. Looking forward to Thanksgiving, we are two people who have A LOT to be thankful for. I am blesed to have a Husband who loves the Lord. I am thankful that God brought me a “co-laborer;” a husband that I can work along side of, for the sake of Jesus’ glorious gospel! I am thankful that Gulio Verrelli, my sweet grandfather who is now with Jesus, saw us get married. [He passed away just three short weeks after our wedding].
Like any other wedding, the big day was preceeded by lots of madness. For starters the wedding was in NY so all of us AZ folk had to fly into the city, a few days prior to the wedding. Doesn’t sound too off the wall yet? Here it comes, Jonathan’s plane to NY was struck by lightning! God’s glorious sky, filled with dense clouds, heavy rains and brutal winds became too much for a little aircraft to handle. The plane had to emergency land and the groom arrived at a very ungodly… 5:00AM!!! After getting little to no sleep it was time for Jonathan to meet family member, after family member. The Verrelli’s, the Accomando’s, the Esposito’s the Cretaro’s …yes all Italians and all undeniably proud of it.
When the sun rose on the big day all was well. Both myself(the bride) and Jonathan(the groom) felt very excited and ready! As I was getting my hair done by my world famous hair dresser, I got a call from the groom…the tux place had forgotten to pack the grooms vest and tie set…seriously! LoL. He squeezed into his little brothers attire, and called it good. At the same time, Vinny Verrelli( my Dad and chofer) drove to the reception hall. Sitting beside Vinny was my sweet mother who realised she had put the wrong persons contact lenses in. She could NOT see! My brother raced home nearly getting into a car wreck and retrieved the right pair of lenses…what a guy!
When we arrived at the incredible reception hall, overlooking the Long Island Sound, I breathed in a peaceful, breezy 70degrees. Then….I was quickly notified that a glass centerpiece had dramatically shattered into pieces. Psht no problem, I had a spare centerpiece( yes, really!) Error after error, even after the DJ tried to create a teenage guido club out of our wedding, we laughed it all off, we couldn’t help it…we we’re simply overwhelmed with God’s joy. The day was amazing and perfect in our eyes. When Pastor Scott preformed the wedding ceremony he did so with passion and spunk. He spoke ALL about Jesus and the hope Jesus had to offer through the trials of marriage. Many experienced a wedding ceremony unlike any other. God was glorified through Pastor Scott’s truthful and inspiring words. We are so thankful for our amazing bridal party, family and best friends; who prayed and supported us the whole way!
