“You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” -Romans 5:6-8
As Jonathan and I were mid conversation with a young couple, a gentleman with a saxophone walked beside us, pacing anxiously. As we said our goodbyes to the couple, he quickly greeted us politely with nervous small talk. Jonathan took this opportunity to share the gospel with the man. He shared with him about Christ’s sin free life on Earth. When Jonathan mentioned that Jesus had the ability to set people free of sin the mans eyes lit up and he became even more engaged in the conversation. Jonathan went on to talk about Christ’s sacrifice on the cross and the amazing news of us being reunited with Jesus in Heaven forever(Wow!).
When we concluded our conversation about Jesus Jonathan asked our new friend what was holding him back from truly following Jesus. He promply and quite openly responded,” I’m on drugs and I know my mind is not in the right place. I can’t love God like this.” Though on drugs, he was coherent enough to voice that he wanted to get off the drugs. That week he had attempted to ween himself off of drugs, but simply kept failing. Jonathan shared his testimony of miraculous deliverance from drugs with our friend. ” I promise you Jesus is SO MUCH better then drugs. Once God set me free I never desired it another day in my life.” Jonathan told the man. Our friend voiced that he desperately wanted the same for his own life. A bit leery and seemingly unbelieving he agreed to pray with us and at the end of the prayer his entire countance changed. ” Jesus is just truth! You can’t even deny that!” He said firmly. The beautiful thing is, before heading to Mill Avenue that evening Jonathan and I prayed specifically against disbelief. We where therefore very encouraged and overjoyed regarding the one minuet pray that went from sceptical to believing! If YOU yourself are reading this today and are addicted to drugs I pray that the Spirit of God himself will indulge and captivate you in a way that drugs never ever could. The bible says is Psalm 63 that God is better than ANYTHING, better than LIFE it declares. I promise you friends, this is TRUE! Put your trust in Jesus today! He wants nothing more than to forgive you of your debt and jump start your pilgrimage for eternity with HIM in Heaven!!!
“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed “ -1 Peter 2:24
