As we began setting our materials up for the night, a group of four people approached me, wanting to do the IQ test. Intrigued, five other girls also walked over to listen in. I selected a gentleman to take the IQ test and he read the words with confidence. The sentences read ” Paris in the the Spring, Bird in the the hand, and once in a a lifetime.” However, 98% of people do not realize the double words, at first glace. The group laughed after I pointed out the double words, ” Now its so obvious!” one man said. “Exactly. Sometimes there is clear evidence right in front of our faces, but we choose to believe our own perceptions. Jesus died, rose from the dead and appeared to eye witnesses, and some STILL did not believe” I told the group. “Wow. that’s a crazy analogy. That makes so much sense. God is real!” another gentleman announced. I was able to talk to the mesmerized man about the gospel. He expressed that he was “suppose” to be a catholic, but that he learned more about God in two minuets he spoke to me, then his whole life. He had never read his bible, followed God, or took anything Christians said seriously. He thanked me and expressed excitement to read his bible.
As Lisiapproached a few gentlemen with tracks they inquired with her to make an appearance on their website. Their site involves something regarding unity of religion. Meaning, they take bits and pieces of several religions and call the compilement truth. They asked Lisi, if they could interview her on what she personally believed. She shared with them her testimony and the gospel, all on camera. They said they would definitely put her footage online. Apparently the website is quite popular as well so hopefully many people view Lisi’s interview.
David Barr and I spent over an hour of the night speaking to a man who identified himself as “too bad for God.” He was an honest and remorseful man who was displeased about the turn his life had taken. He saw the depth of his sin, and assumed God to be very, very angry with him. We were able to share with him that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us! He didn’t wait for us to become “good people,”haha. We shared with him that while Jesus was mocked on the cross he prayed to God, ” Forgive them Father!” We shared with him that he had the first step down: humility, admitting you have wronged God, that you are in need of a savior, that you can not save yourself. If you think that you are “too bad,” for God, I urge you to read verses such as Romans 5:8, Romans 6:23, and,Luke 19:10(just to name a few). 2 Corinthians 5:17 says that you can be a NEW creation in Christ. Jesus’ blood was spilled for you. The Bad news: we have all fallen short of God’s glory and are entirely deserving of Hell. The good news: you can repent, receive Christ’s forgiveness and be in right standing with God TODAY! Hoooray!
Aside from preaching the gospel, Tiffany and Walter both found awesome opportunities to serve the people of Mill
Avenue. Tiffany shared the gospel with a homeless woman. As she finished up her conversation a man approached her, testing her willingness to serve. “Hey have you heard that verse in Luke, it says you are suppose to sell all your possessions and give them to the poor. Do you live like that?” He asked. Tiffany told the man she believed she actually lived that way. Last year she sold her car and possessions, in order to go to Africa to share the gospel. Still not satisfied, the man told Tiffany she should give away her shoes to the homeless woman she had spoke with. Tiffany agreed that would be a great idea and willingly removed her shoes and gave them to the homeless woman. At first the woman refused to accept but when she realized they were the same size she thanked Tiffany and accepted the gift. She spent the remainder of the night on the street barefoot! The man was really surprised and taken back by Tiffany’s willingness and Christlike action.
Walter, walked by a homeless man and asked the man if he could get something for him to eat. “ I can absolutely not let you go hungry tonight!” Walter told the man. The man’s eyes lit up right away. Walter took him to Jimmy John’s and got him a big sandwich, shared truth with him and gave him a book of John. As we said goodbye the man glowing with a grin from ear to ear. Not to mention he must have thanked Walter about 20 times.
