Marcus witnesses to a group of teens
This past Friday we headed down to First Friday’s, in downtown Phoenix. First Fridays is a self guided, out door art walk; to be precise its the largest outdoor art walk in the nation:). Our night began as three teenage boys walked up to some of our trivia/and IQ test posters, to try their luck. They all failed miserably[lol] which gave me a great chance to speak to them about how our perceptions fool us, at times. Perhaps you are reading this today and you are confident that there is no God. Or perhaps you believe you are with out a doubt going to Heaven based on your good life and the things you have done. Scripture reveals to us that our heart deceives us and at times… we miss the obvious. We miss facts that linger in front of our faces. The only way we can get into Heaven is through Jesus, Christ(Acts 4:12). Jesus Christ accomplished everything on the cross!( Here is a great sermon by Mark Driscoll on that concept, if anyone is interested. I strongly recommend it!). All that to say Marcus was able to share the gospel with the three teenagers and they ended up sticking around the entire night(about 3 hours), listening to the preachers and talking one on one with some other people that were with us.

Dante preaching from the rocks
Since it seemed to be a success last First Friday’s, we decided to preach from the rocks again(see images to the left & below). Do to the randomness of someone with a microphone on top of a rock, a crowd was formed each time a new speaker went up, throughout the course of the night. Dante, preached for the FIRST TIME, open air! He presented the gospel in a very clear manner and after was able to speak to several people one to one regarding the things he had said. Through the guys open air presentation and Jennifer’s reading of scripture, three different people approached me for prayer. Thankfully, I was able to pray over them and break down their misconceptions of the gospel and who Jesus is and is not!

Me(right) after witnessing to a girl who thanked me for the "good news."
Hand fulls of interesting and questionable characters set up shop this past Friday at “First

This Parrot was able to repeat the Gospel back to us...which was almost as humorous as the fact that he was wearing a miniature sweater.
Fridays” (the nations largest self guided art walk). Myself…apparently being one of those characters, as I rolled up as a solo act- woman street preacher, with all the equipment, bibles and tracks haha( everyone else joined me shortly after). I asked a cop to watch out for me until the evangie men arrived; he kindly agreed.:)

Be reconciled to God through Faith in Jesus!
When a defendant is faced with a damning indictment, a legal advocate is obtained in the hopes that he might obtain mercy through a plea bargain with the prosecuting attorney.
Nobody wants to walk in to work and get hit with a subpoena. Nobody likes to get served divorce papers in front of the kids. Nobody wants to have handcuffs slapped on them in front of all their friends.

Christ is our treasure!

Walter preaching to a few individuals, on Mill Ave.
While most of the evangelism team was slaking off, either away or taking a break for the Holiday Season, Walter continued to bring his A game to preaching! Walter began the night of December 12th by preaching on 2 Cor 5:20-22. He spoke about how Christ became sin to cleanse us of our sin. Not long into his preaching a drunk gentleman decided he found that message to be downright offensive and SPIT on Walter! Confused as to what was so offensive Walter tried to continue, as a couple walked over to Walter enraged. The lady of the duo began yelling at Walter, becoming increasingly more and more angry. Unable to reason with the girl Walter asked the gentleman of the couple, why she was so angry. Unfortunately that immediately provoked the gentleman into defensive mode. ” I didn’t do anything wrong! Why are you looking at me? I have no part in this!” The man yelled. Walter expressed to the man that while he didn’t know him or what made him mad, he simply wanted him to know Jesus.
It seemed Walter was saying and doing everything right, yet apparently it just wasn’t his night! The man he was dialoging with quickly grabbed the mic from him and throw it on the ground as hard as he could. Trying not to draw attention as there was a crowd, Walter picked up the mic and turned the other cheek, retaining his UFC skills. The man however grabbed the mic again tossing it to the ground as another man kicked the mic. As the evening continued to get rowdy, Marcus and Justin showed up in the nick of time. Walter was happy because they represented protection if things continued in the way it was going. The three guys stayed a bit longer conversing with individuals in the crowd. Finally, the night wrapped up as a drunk man in the crowd through beer on the megaphone! Although Walter, Marcus and Justin may have had a bit of a rough night I definitely believe their actions and Christ-likeness in the midst of a bit of persecution resounded well with the bi-standers. Thanks for being great witnesses guys!

Some new faces to the evangie team:) Lauren, Jacob and Tiff.
Thousands of people flood downtown Phoenix, once a month for “First Fridays.” First Fridays is a free art festival that takes place on the first Friday of each month(Roosevelt street is closed from Central to 1st Avenue). We arrived on the the crowded streets at about 7pm Friday night. Marcus and his crew walked up just as we did, and didn’t waste a second of time. As soon as the mic was flipped to the on switch Jennifer was on the mic conducting the “good person test.” A few skeptical on lookers watched from a distance.

Just some of the Madness at First Fridays (not us)
Last night, we headed out with a team of about 10 people; to “First Fridays,” (an arts fair)in downtown Phoenix. Our team included two new faces (Angie and Josh from Praxis) who were both quite humble, yet bold and eager to witness.
Walter and Scotty B started up the night strong, speaking on the mic regarding the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. While Scotty was on the mic he noticed an acquaintance listening in the crowd. He asked the gentleman to come to the mic and share his testimony. Not only did this man share his incredible testimony of deliverance from various addictions( including drugs and alcohol) and nearly loosing his life, but he continued to preach on several bible verses and even rapped the gospel for us! This drew in a crowd of about 40 people; which continued to grow as the night went on at which point we all rotated the mic around. Throughout the course of the night several hundred people heard at least a glimpse of the gospel !
Mia and David were still going strong after conversing and debating one to one with several teenagers, atheists, and homosexuals. They were each able to pray with a few unexpected on lookers. Mia also got up on the mic for the FIRST time! I guess she didn’t have much of a choice being that Scotty B announced to a crowd of about fifty that she would be coming up to the mic to give a few words.
Just when the night was wrapping up our friends the “resistance,” aka the secular free thought society showed up, including Kazz, Rocco and Kaylee. We conversed with them here and there, holding a few short debate sessions. Now I gotta harp on them a bit here because I love them all but, they didn’t exactly bring their A-game. Kazz tried to prove that Jesus was actually evil, because he told a fig tree to wither. I would like to thank Kazz for enlightening me; before I thought Jesus was trying to show us a universal truth. Now I know that he’s actually a cruel, fig tree murderer. Josh did get to go over and have a pretty nice conversation with Kazz and I felt Scotty and Walter both acted respectful and wise in that they conversed with the atheist while also attending to the crowd and continuing to deliver the gospel.
