This young girls boldness has encouraged and inspired me:) She includes some vital information, covering all crowds. She even refers to special cases such as abortion, incest, ect., She gives the statistical percentage for those cases: only 1% are special cases, Nation wide. As I(Jonathan) was leaving an ASU game I once had a guy scream in my face, “You’re Lost, you’re going to HELL!!!!” He had a huge sign with a list of sins(liars, fornicators, Hip-Hoppers, feminists, dancers, ect.) and he would say this to as many people as he could. I thought to myself this guys is doing more harm then good. I’m sure we’ve all had a face to face encounter with a “Hell Fire/Sign Guy Street Preacher.”
Sign Guys come in all shapes and sizes. Their message mainly consists of judgments, insults and condemnation–with no clear explanation of the gospel. We call it a “condemnation without cause message.” (thanks to Steve at stonethepreacher.com, he was a big help in me understanding more about this issue) This is a problem because unbelievers who walk by have no idea why they should stop sinning, why God will judge them in Hell, and why Jesus died for them.

Myself…apparently being one of those characters, as I rolled up as a solo act- woman street preacher, with all the equipment, bibles and tracks haha( everyone else joined me shortly after). I asked a cop to watch out for me until the evangie men arrived; he kindly agreed.:)

Nobody wants to walk in to work and get hit with a subpoena. Nobody likes to get served divorce papers in front of the kids. Nobody wants to have handcuffs slapped on them in front of all their friends.
It was well past 1am on Mill Avenue as our own UFC Walti jumped back on the mic to say what we thought was his goodbyes to the crowd/Mill Avenue. Little did we know there was a fire shut up in Walter’s bones that he could not contain. He didn’t waste any time …he began speaking about persecution and his willingness to die for Christ. “WHO’S PACKING?” He shouted! “SHOOT ME!” He enticed the crowd. He continued on to talk about Jesus, grace and judgment as two men walked up. Plausibly , the pair disliked the part about judgment as that’s what they began shouting about first.The guys were both military men who served in Afghanistan. They were banking on getting to Heaven based on the fact that they served this country. While it is certainly noble and admirable to fight for ones country that will certainly not get you to Heaven. JESUS is the one and only way to the only one and only true Heaven.
Walter hoped off the mic to talk to the two guys who were at this point beginning to show signs of anger and aggression.“Em, go sit on the side for your protection.” Ephrem advised me, as the two seemed to at this point want a fight. Walter, David, Ephrem, Phil, Jonathan, and Marcus all gathered to try and reason with the two men and try to share the gospel with them. During the course of this time Marcus had the video camera on and recording. A: he does this for some stellar footage. But even more importantly he does it for protection in case anything happens… and for evidence sake (Yes I am foreshadowing haha).
“Hey man you better get that camera out of my face!” He shouted at Marcus. His argument was that he was military and if he was seen on camera publicly intoxicated(which both men were) they would risk discharge from the military. Marcus respectfully took a step back but did not stop recording. As the guys tried reasoning with the man and attempted to calm him down he shouted something similar at Marcus again. Finally the man through a punch at Marcus’s camera, shutting the screen of it. At this Walter through up it arms “Woah,woah, woah,” shocked and trying to settle things quickly. Unfortunately this just put him in the man fighting path to Marcus, and Walter was TACKLED to the ground, ROLLING on his already torn ACL.
I have some urgent and shocking news…Jesus of Nazareth may not have been born on December 25th! Haha, I kid, but as you’ve probably heard before, Jesus’ birthday is most likely not December 25th. No where in the bible is a date or time of year given. There are  biblical references of shepherds tending to their flock in the night during the birth of Jesus, and therefore scholars have maintained it was probably lambing season; aka Spring. While other scholars believe his birth occurred in July. The precise day matters little to me, I am simply glad a day exist where we can celebrate the birth of the Savior of the world. However, I do think we ought so celebrate that news daily…the “Christmas message,” is not merely about ipods, cars and diamond rings. While that stuff is cool too,the true Christmas story is life saving news!
