A Christmas Love Story!

Merry Christmas, from all of us in the desert!

Merry Christmas, from all of us in the desert!

I have some urgent and shocking news…Jesus of Nazareth may not have been born on December 25th! Haha, I kid,  but as you’ve probably heard before, Jesus’ birthday is most likely not December 25th. No where in the bible is a date or time of year given. There are   biblical references of shepherds tending to their flock in the night during the birth of Jesus, and therefore scholars have maintained it was probably lambing season; aka Spring. While other scholars believe his birth occurred  in July. The precise day matters little to me, I am simply glad a day exist where we can celebrate the birth of the Savior of the world. However, I do think we ought to celebrate that news daily…the “Christmas message,” is not merely about ipods, cars and diamond rings. While that stuff is cool too, the true Christmas story is life saving news!

Nothing like over the top Christmas lights!

The true meaning of Christmas is the most beautiful Love story of all time. God, manifested himself to become a human being(Jesus Christ). Why would GOD become his own creation? Love! Because of love. He loved the world…he loves YOU so much. God provided a way…the only way for us to be saved from much deserved wrath. Simply put we have sinned; we have broken God’s law. Instead of us dieing in our sin, God sent his son to literally be the punishment of our sins. He paid for every sin we ever have and ever will commit. God’s true love is 100% free. We are free from condemnation and death if we will simply accept Christ’s love offer. Turn from sin, and turn towards Christ. It is the only way:) If you don’t understand why it is the only way, nor what makes belief in Christ any different from “other religions,” PLEASE ask us.

“In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” 1 John 4:9-10gingerbread_house_1_1
